Spreadsheet alternative
A spreadsheet alternative for tracking clients, jobs and payments
Many small businesses start with a spreadsheet of clients and jobs. Avendo replaces that sheet with ready-made records for clients, jobs, payment status and tasks, adds reminders and a calendar, and works the same on your phone and computer — without formulas to maintain.
Moving from a spreadsheet to Avendo
There is no spreadsheet import, so most people start with their active clients and let older rows stay in the sheet as an archive.
Start with active clients
Add the clients you work with now, or import them from your phone's contacts on mobile.
Re-create upcoming jobs
Enter the jobs that are scheduled or still unpaid. Each job is linked to its client, so there are no lookup formulas.
Replace colour-coding with statuses
Instead of coloured cells, use job statuses and payment statuses that Avendo can list and count for you.
Let reminders do the remembering
Add tasks and reminders that notify you, instead of scanning rows every morning.
What a spreadsheet cannot do for you
Linked records
FreeClients, jobs and payments are connected, not copied between tabs.
Notifications
FreeReminders that actually alert you on your device.
Phone-friendly
FreeNative apps for iOS and Android, not a grid on a small screen.
Offline
FreeWorks without internet on the Free plan.
Automatic totals
ProPaid revenue, overdue totals and completed jobs without formulas.
Export when you need it
ProExport a JSON backup, plus CSV from the mobile apps.
Free works offline on one device without an account and covers up to 30 clients and 50 active jobs. Pro ($4.99/month or $49.99/year) adds cloud sync, web access, a booking page and up to 5 team members. Max ($9.99/month or $99.99/year) adds the AI assistant. Compare plans
Avendo compared with a spreadsheet
A spreadsheet is endlessly flexible. Avendo is less flexible but already structured for client work.
| Avendo | Spreadsheet | |
|---|---|---|
| Setup | Ready-made records | You design columns and formulas |
| Reminders and notifications | Built in | Not built in |
| Use on a phone | Native apps | Possible, but awkward |
| Calendar of jobs | Built in | Manual |
| Custom columns and formulas | No | Yes |
| Import from CSV or spreadsheet | Not supported | — |
Switch if
- your sheet has grown into several tabs that you keep in sync by hand
- you check the spreadsheet on your phone between jobs
- you have missed a follow-up or a payment because a row was buried
Keep the spreadsheet if
- you rely on custom columns, formulas or pivot tables
- you need to import hundreds of historical rows automatically
- you mainly need financial modelling rather than client work
Questions and answers
Can I import my spreadsheet into Avendo?
Not at the moment. You can import contacts from your phone on mobile, and restore Avendo's own JSON backups, but CSV and spreadsheet import is not available.
Can I get my data back out as a spreadsheet?
Yes, on paid plans. The mobile apps export CSV, and all apps can export a JSON backup.
Is Avendo free?
The Free plan has no time limit and covers up to 30 clients and 50 active jobs on one device, offline and without an account.
